Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Aquinian (the “Service”), an intellectual formation tool that produces structured, Thomistic-style theological, philosophical, and cultural analyses under the in-app identity “Aquinian Magister.” The Service is operated by FIA Labs (“the operator,” “we,” or “us”). By signing in or otherwise using the Service you accept these Terms.

The Service is currently in a closed private beta. These Terms are a draft and remain subject to owner and legal review prior to public launch.

Aquinian is a software-based intellectual formation tool. It uses large language models to generate structured outputs modelled on classical Thomistic disputation. It is offered to assist study, formation, and personal reflection.

• Aquinian is not an ecclesial authority and does not speak on behalf of the Catholic Church, the Holy See, any diocese, religious institute, or other ecclesial body.
• Aquinian is not a priest, deacon, religious, confessor, spiritual director, canon lawyer, theologian-of-record, therapist, physician, attorney, or licensed professional of any kind.
• Aquinian does not provide sacramental, pastoral, medical, psychological, legal, financial, or canonical advice, and its outputs must not be treated as such.
• Outputs are machine-generated and require independent verification against primary authoritative sources (Sacred Scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Magisterial documents, conciliar texts, and the works of recognised authors) before being cited, taught, published, or otherwise relied upon.

You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and able to enter into a binding agreement under the law of your jurisdiction to use the Service. Access requires authentication via the third-party Google sign-in flow brokered by the Service’s authentication provider. You are responsible for safeguarding the Google account you use to access Aquinian and for all activity conducted under your authenticated session.

You may use the Service for lawful personal study, theological formation, intellectual analysis, and the preparation of your own work product, subject to the Acceptable Use Policy. You must verify any output before using it externally.

Without limiting the Acceptable Use Policy, you agree that you will not:

• Present Aquinian outputs as official teaching of the Catholic Church, of any diocese, religious institute, or ecclesial authority, or as the considered judgement of any credentialed theologian, priest, or scholar, without independent verification against authoritative primary sources.
• Use the Service to impersonate clergy, religious, ecclesial offices, theologians, canon lawyers, or any credentialed professional.
• Publish, share, or cite quotations, citations, or attributions generated by the Service as verified historical sources without independent confirmation in a recognised authoritative edition.
• Use the Service in any manner that violates applicable law, the rights of others, or the Acceptable Use Policy.

The Service is engineered to refuse fabricated citations and to mark unverified material accordingly. Despite these safeguards, large-language-model output can contain errors, omissions, or plausible-sounding but inaccurate material. You bear sole responsibility for verifying any output against authoritative sources before relying on it. You should not assume that an output is accurate, complete, or doctrinally sound merely because it was produced by the Service.

The Service, including its name, branding, source code, prompt architecture, user interface, and documentation, is owned by the operator of Aquinian and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, you retain the rights you have in the prompts you submit and may use the verified output of the Service for your own lawful purposes.

The Service is provided as a beta. Features, prompts, generation ceilings, rate limits, available modes, and the underlying model may change, be suspended, or be withdrawn at any time without notice. Saved outputs may be migrated or removed during the beta period.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE OPERATOR DISCLAIMS ALL EXPRESS, IMPLIED, AND STATUTORY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND DOCTRINAL FIDELITY. NOTHING IN THE SERVICE CONSTITUTES SACRAMENTAL, PASTORAL, MEDICAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, LEGAL, OR PROFESSIONAL ADVICE.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT WILL THE OPERATOR BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF, OR INABILITY TO USE, THE SERVICE, WHETHER BASED IN CONTRACT, TORT, STATUTE, OR OTHER THEORY, EVEN IF THE OPERATOR HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

The operator may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time for any reason, including violation of these Terms or the Acceptable Use Policy. You may stop using the Service at any time. Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

The operator may revise these Terms during and after the beta. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after the effective date of a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
